Summary
Classroom management expert Sue Cowley works with NQT Chris Farnen on timing and pacing his lessons, at Welford Primary School in Birmingham.
Sue focuses on the importance of timing when teaching primary pupils, looking at how long Chris expects his pupils to spend on tasks, and his pacing of the different lessons he delivers across the day.
Sue suggests he looks at the nature of each task he sets within a lesson, and invites him to think about how he could present tasks to maintain a sense of momentum and success.
She encourages Chris not to be too self-critical when children don't deliver the amount of work he expects.
