Summary
Teaching Award winner Jonny Heeley uses an activity-filled lesson about polygons to inspire a group of gifted and talented KS2 pupils.
With an emphasis on pupil participation, Jonny explores the definition of a polygon before helping them produce their own squares, triangles and hexagons.
Pupils then calculate the inside angles of these polygons, allowing them to create tessellated patterns using a variety of different polygons.
Finally, Jonny invites the pupils to help him make a success of his tile shop by creating a number of tessellated tile designs for his customers.
