Summary

Two children's centres focus on the importance of parent voice and use the information they gain to help improve outcomes for children and families.

Head of County Children's Centre in Liverpool, Sue Culkin, runs a parent focus group to give the community a say in the running of the centre. Feedback after "Play and Learn" sessions for Polish parents, helps the centre create effective services.

In North Tyneside, a road show promotion of the Howden Children's Centre is run by parents volunteers, to encourage new families to join. A parent and carer's group, run by parents, illustrates the strength of their voice within the centre.

Head of centre, Gillian Darby, and parental involvement officer, Debbie Hindmarsh, liaise regularly to check parental requests are being acted upon.
