Problems playing videos
Problems playing videos can be caused by either an issue with your internet connection, accessing the video outside the UK or a problem with the Teachers Media service.
A quick way of checking where the fault lies is to try to access another online video service, such as the BBC iPlayer or the You Tube website. If you can watch videos elsewhere without difficulty, the problem lies with Teachers Media. If this happens, please contact us and we will be happy to try to rectify the problem.
If you can’t access video content on Teachers Media and other sites, it could be because:
- There is a fault with your computer
- There is a fault with your internet connection
- Your computer is protected by a firewall
In all of these cases, please check with your system administrator or refer to your computer manual. You can also refer to for help to the Adobe Flash Player FAQs.
On older or slower machines, scrolling rapidly up and down the page while a video is playing can also cause the video to behave erratically or stop playing entirely.
Being told you're outside the UK
Unfortunately our videos are not currently available to stream outside the UK. The way we have opted to determine a viewer of the service is through the user's IP address (something that is designated to you by your Internet Service Provider each time you connect to the internet). Unfortunately, these IP addresses are not 100 per cent accurate and sometimes, a user in the UK will have been given a foreign IP address and will not be able to stream videos online.
You may be able to access the programmes if you reset your internet connection, or access Teachers Media from another location.
